We can become so accustomed to stress that we don’t even feel it , or its effects, until it’s too late. Thank you for posting this, Linda.

Oh my! That looked like a morning around my house… without the heart attack, that is.
What an important thing to be made aware of (or… “of which to be made aware” for those grammar ghouls out there).
I’ve missed quite a few of your recent posts, thus I’m not really in the know, but has something like this happened to you recently? I certainly hope not.
Loved the stethoscope scene. So true to life ๐

Oh, golly, no, Dink. I was reposting this from another blog simply because I thought it deserves all the attention it can get and it’s well done. Honestly, I would never think it possible for an attractive, fit looking young woman like this to be in danger of a heart attack…Our assumptions can be the death of us.

Hey Linda…I just got a notice you’d published a new post but I don’t see it anywhere: My Childhood Home: An Urban Zoo? What gives? Are you turning into a tease or did you hit the publish button by accident? (I’ve done that a few times… ๐

Sorry, Dia. I had to pull it. Technical problems, WP running super slow on my computer for some reason, finally, at midnight I gave up getting it right and just deleted it. I’ll be reposting it soon.

I admit I’m pretty uneducated about this…I was surprised to see it could happen to someone who looked so healthy and young. A great wake-up call Linda. I agree it was more powerful to see it happening to a non-stereotypical person for heart risk. Thanks!

Not that I look like that actress…but it is very easy to feel immune to this health issue. ;-o

Thanks for this! I know a few woman who should see this….I will forward this to them.
I think this clip is very good precisely because of the fact that the actress is not the stereotypical overweight, red-faced individual we all think are doomed and destined to have a heart attack. We ALL take on too much and feel we are invincible.
I am not and was not that stereotypical person two years ago when I had a heart attack.

Well, in my opinion, if they’d used a normal looking woman (ie, fat and without perfect skin) and she’d not been able to use the phone for the pain, that would’ve come across better. I don’t know why everything’s got to be glossed-up to get a message across – a health message too? Crazy!
Certainly we’ve got to be aware, but awareness – and changing diet and lifestyle – aren’t necessarily going to prevent a heart attack.
And eventually – we all die when our hearts stop.

You make a good point about the uber-perfect actress, but I think maybe the point of this one was that heart disease doesn’t just attack overweight, heavyset women, but also young, vibrant, suburban moms. A side point was that her son was informed enough to recognize the symptoms and knew better than to argue with her, to just hand her the facts in a way that she would recognize. I thought that was a clever twist. But I understand your position, Val.

Yah, Linda, this is serious stuff! It still amazes me how stats show heart attack being one of the major killers of women, yet I do no know of one woman who had died from one. I don’t dispute it, but rather am reinforcing how it can be the last thing we consider is wrong.

You know, I don’t think I know of any women who’ve died from heart failure.

Made me cry. First I wouldn’t imagine such a thin, young woman would have a heart attack. However, it does happen. Reminded me of my daughter’s harried life with 3 young children. My daughter also cuts off the crusts for her kids. I thought the son wouldn’t really recognize his mom as having a heart attack, but when he got the cell phone for her, I thought he had dialed 911! Anyway, it was sad she wanted to clean up the house for the paramedics…. what stress we women often create for ourselves. Thanks
